Title: Talk to the Hand

Subtitle: In Less Than Perfect Harmony

I can only speak for myself when I say… women have always had a unique inner strength and depth, far beyond the capacity of most men. They have the ability to bring new life into the world and for the greater part, appear more adept at tolerating a partner’s indiscretions.

Having said that, there are those men who nurture an irrational resentment… and take every opportunity to lessen the acceptable standard of “All things being equal” as a bridge for physical abuse and debasement. Odious is one such example… a pathetic reflection of social evolution and cultural adaptability . . . Posturing: Rachel at Fashion Week. Guise of the Librarian. Langage figuré de Ketamine: Xarah Xavier (il était une fois) Hermaphrodite: Les premiers signes de vie. English Translation: Hermaphrodite - The First Signs of Life

Les premiers signes de vie, is the sixth installment of automatist digital sculpture to be added to the Neoclassic collection of Abstract Automatism.

The portrait was originally conceived in the summer of 2008, only 6 months after the artist began his experimentation with digital image manipulation.

In a recent interview (to be viewed on Facebook) he was asked the question, How do you choose a theme or style to work with?

Quote: For the greater part, I would have to say it chooses me. When I begin to work on a blank (digital) canvas, what generally materializes is an image that reflects the current mood. Because I don’t sketch or outline a specific image, the energy of the moment will dictate the direction in which the sculpture will ultimately be viewed.

When the work is commissioned (usually a photograph), it is the elements in that image that determine the theme for the subject. Once that has been established, it becomes more about the mood which is reflected in the use of color and shading…

Cassandra Landau – Gallery Coordinator Francine Wykowski: Front Street, Brooklyn Heights. Original Title: Ekaterina`s Nightmare ~ Halloween in the Ukraine

Inspired by the Life and Artistry of Francine Wykowski

Models: Francine Wykowski and Ekaterina Cynthia Crowe, NYC. Elizabeth Báthory: Silent Meditation on Vestigial Organisms. An intimate portrait of the infamous Hungarian Countess, Elizabeth Báthory.

It was once thought that organs such as the tonsils and the appendix were useless “leftovers”, footprints of mans evolution. Current research has determined that that the small pouch which extends off the large intestine (the appendix) is particularly useful fighting infections as a result of exposure to certain types of radiation and other conditions.

Charles Darwin put forth the theory; the appendix was used primarily to digest leaves and other vegetation in early primates. As man evolved, he has eaten fewer vegetables preferring a variety of meats.

Consequently, the appendix (or vermiform appendix, also cecal appendix / vermix appendix) has grown considerably smaller to accommodate the increased size of our stomachs. Asleep at the Helm: Parasitic life form feeding through a portal. Subtitle: Disruption of the Perturbative overview in Quantum Mechanics

Asleep at the Helm (Parasitic life form feeding through a portal) is the fourth installment to the Neoclassical collection of Automatist digital sculpture.

It represents a complete departure of general subject themes and is the first in a new series of Futuristic renderings.

Cassandra Landau – Gallery Coordinator Finger Painting: Un jour avec les enfants. Subtitle: L`aura in pastel Haitian Creole Pudding: happenstance and feathers. Haitian Creole Pudding: Happenstance and Feathers, is the newest addition to the gallery and unique to any in the collection. The painting is a series of stark black and white images peppered with soft coloured hues and crystalline highlights.

The digital canvas is a mélange of abstract portraiture, contrasting the refined detail of the surrealistic backdrop. Mardi, a veteran to Haitian falconry and her bird Tuti are the figurative subjects depicted in the painting.

Donna Berlanda – Publicist Judy Vendetta: ingurgitating the mask of social etiquette. Subtitle: Consuming the Blight of Human Decadence (Socialist view)

Ingurgitating the Mask of Social Etiquette is an homage to Judy Vendetta, a fictional character skillfully portrayed by WKTV’s A.J. Canostrel. Often dark and moody, she appeared in weekly broadcasts spewing her unique style of horror and self-deprecating humor while picking her teeth with an 8` switchblade!

An Italian American, she has toured extensively throughout the US and abroad since childhood with her family. The Canostrel`s were a professional Circus Troupe performing acrobatics, high-wire aerials and comedy. It was in this creative setting that she honed her skills as a hair and makeup artist, costume designer and performer.

Ms. Canostrel came to New York in her early 20’s to study dance and drama, attending several notable schools. As an outlet for her artistic energies, she waited tables at local restaurants, started her own jewelry company, danced professionally and became an integral part of the production staff at WKTV (the weekly show).

As a waitress it is often said, she left an indelible blight on NYC’s food service industry as the “infection for which there was no cure”

Cassandra Landau - Gallery Coordinator Charlotte Corday 1793: Dreams of the Revolution ~ Virgin Death in Paris. The work was inspired by the 1967 film, Marat/Sade by Peter Brook. It was his extraordinary use of colour (the paint can vignettes) and makeup that for me, made this particular film so memorable. The acting was superb as was the lighting and overall production value.

The image reflects Corday’s repugnance for the likes of the Marquis de Sade and Jean-Paul Marat, a radical journalist and proponent of a period known as The Reign of Terror. Beginning in September 1793 and ending in July 1794, as many as 40,000 people (enemies of the revolution) were executed or guillotined for which she held Marat directly responsible.

In a dream, both the Marquis and Marat get their “just desserts” as they pleasure and feed from Charlotte’s derriere. Marie-Anne Charlotte de Corday d’Armont was found guilty for the stabbing death of Jean-Paul Marat and executed under the guillotine on 17 July 1793 in Paris, France. Human pheromones: nothingness in stark contrast. Subtitle: Utterly in the State of Being Rebarbative Coexistence: external fractures. Please note...

The rough “unfinished look” of the image, is in part a Post Apocalyptic concept design and is not an error in printing… the physics of internal flux. Enigmatic Two-faced Swan. Entretien de la Reine: pharoh`s concubine. Subtitle: In Service to the Queen: pharoh`s concubine Acroupissement Modèle - Grenouille de Piaulement. Translation: Crouching Model - Peeping Frog

Original Title
On the Farm: Dirty Gerty`s Menagerie - insert Hopelessly Committed. Beautifully Evil . . . What is Pop Art . . .

Pop Art is an art movement that emerged in the 1950’s in both Great Britain and the United States. It challenged tradition by asserting that an artist`s use of the mass-produced visual commodities of popular culture is contiguous with the perspective of fine art. At times, Pop removes the material from its context and isolates the object or combines it with other objects for further exploration.

The concept of Pop Art refers not as much to the art itself as to the attitudes which led to it…

Pop Art employs aspects of mass culture such as advertising, comic books and mundane cultural objects. It is widely interpreted as a reaction to the ideas of abstract expressionism, as well as expanding on the concept. Due to its utilization of found objects and images it is similar to that of Dada...

Pop Art is aimed to employ images of popular culture as opposed to those of elitist art. It emphasizes the banal or kitschy elements of any given culture, most often through the use of irony. It is also associated with the artists` use of mechanical means of reproduction and/or rendering techniques.
creepy things on your face. Ritual Mask: pharaohs` concubine.
